“In a bold bid to end homelessness, a Lancaster coalition pushes rapid housing over shelters” - LNP - Always Lancaster

Today’s LNP - Always Lancaster’s top of page one article is the lead-in to several articles about ways that Lancaster County is trying to contend with the issue of homelessness.

“Not a ‘flop house, Water Street Mission now expects guests to work a plan out of homelessness”

“A helpful outreach worker meets the homeless on the street, lets them know help is available”

The articles reference the Continuum of Care (CoC) Program: “The Continuum of Care (CoC) Program is designed to promote communitywide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness; provide funding for efforts by nonprofit providers, and State and local governments to quickly rehouse homeless individuals and families while minimizing the trauma and dislocation caused to homeless individuals, families, and communities by homelessness; promote access to and effect utilization of mainstream programs by homeless individuals and families; and optimize self-sufficiency among individuals and families experiencing homelessness.”
